The São Paulo Civil Police today asked the court for the preventive arrest of councilman Raimundo Faustino, the only one of the seven involved still at large. The fight between fan groups caused the death of Palmeiras fan Gilberto Torres Pereira, 31 years old. Pereira's brain death was confirmed by the Franco da Rocha State Hospital, late last night (20).

The boy was beaten and suffered a head injury during the confrontation between members of the organized fan groups Mancha Verde, from Palmeiras, and Gaviões da Fiel, from Corinthians, in the center of the city of Franco da Rocha, in Greater São Paulo. According to the police report, the fight started around 7 am last Sunday (17) when the Gaviões da Fiel (Corinthians) and Mancha Verde (Palmeiras) fan groups met at the Franco da Rocha Station of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM).

Six people were arrested on Sunday. The city councilman was seen by military police amidst the commotion. According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, the police are awaiting official notification of the fan's death to change the charges against those indicted. Initially, they were accused of attempted homicide, affray, bodily harm, and inciting a riot. With the formal confirmation of the death, they will now face charges of homicide.

According to the state Public Prosecutor's Office, if the participation of organized fan groups in the incident is proven, a fine of R$ 30 could be imposed on the groups, in addition to a request for the dissolution of the fan groups.
