Pernambuco 247 – The PSOL officially launched Zé Gomes Neto's candidacy for governor of Pernambuco at a convention held at the headquarters of the Christian Workers' Movement (MTC). Entitled "Mobilization for Popular Power," the ticket will have Albanise Pires as its candidate for the Senate.

The party's candidates for the proportional elections – Legislative Assembly and Chamber of Deputies – were also approved. For the presidential election, the party's candidate is former federal deputy Luciana Genro, daughter of the current governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Tarso Genro (PT), who is running for re-election.

In Pernambuco, the party's priority will be to elect Edilson Silva as state representative. He was the third most voted candidate in the 2012 city council election, with 13.661 votes. However, he was not elected because his coalition, Frente de Esquerda (PCB-PSOL), did not reach the electoral quotient of approximately 22.600 votes.

In 2014, the PSOL campaign will focus primarily on defending popular participation. The party intends to create its own model for popular consultation, in a government plan called "Pernambuco Dialogues".

"The June 2013 protests left us with the concrete task of a profound reform of the Brazilian State, one that addresses the need for a participatory democracy, with mechanisms for consultation and participation of the population," said Zé Gomes during the event.

According to the candidate, Pernambuco needs to "establish a debate about economic growth, which has not meant social development. In recent years the state has grown economically, but we have social chaos." "The social indicators are the worst among Brazilian states. Only one thing can make things better: our willingness to build the possibility of popular power in the state," he said.
