247 - The company Pensar Comunicação Planejada requested, this Wednesday (12), the termination of the contract it has maintained with PSDB since 2009. Pensar has as one of its partners the journalist Eduardo Guedes, defendant in the tucano mensalão process, who provides communication services to the party president, senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG). The information is from Folha de S. Paulo.

In a letter sent to the national leadership of the PSDB party, the company's president, Ivan Manso Guedes, states that the termination of the contract aims to avoid "embarrassment" for the party's leadership. "Our decision stems from the observation of the notorious attempts to use an event that occurred 15 years ago in Minas Gerais, still under judicial review – therefore without any conclusion – involving one of our service providers, the journalist Eduardo Guedes, as the accused, with the clear intention of creating undue suspicion and unfair embarrassment for the party's leadership," the letter says.

Ivan Guedes also states that Eduardo Guedes, his brother, "is awaiting the opportunity to present his defense" and is confident that he will be acquitted of the charges. The company president also says that since 2009 there has been "no legal change" in the journalist's situation.

A Folha report published this Wednesday (12) showed that Aécio keeps Eduardo Guedes as one of his main trusted advisors in the area of communication.

In the lawsuit seeking a 22-year prison sentence for the former governor of Minas Gerais and current congressman Eduardo Azeredo (PSDB), the Attorney General's Office alleges that Guedes instructed Copasa, Comig, and Bemge, state agencies, to give R$ 3,5 million (R$ 9 million in today's values) to SMP&B for sponsorship of a sporting event. According to the Attorney General's Office, the money was ultimately embezzled through the alleged scheme.
