PSDB demands Lacerda's support from 2012.
The PSDB president in Minas Gerais, federal deputy Marcus Pestana, wants the support of the PSB and the mayor of Belo Horizonte for the succession in the government; re-elected last year with the backing of his mentor Aécio, Lacerda is in a tight spot due to the intention of the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB), to run for President in 2014.
247 The PSDB party in Minas Gerais is eyeing the mayor of Belo Horizonte, Marcio Lacerda (PSB), for the succession in the government of Minas Gerais.
"We want the support of the PSB and the mayor of Belo Horizonte," said the president of the PSDB in Minas Gerais, federal deputy Marcus Pestana.
The candidate in Minas Gerais has not yet been defined, and the PSDB, the party of Governor Antonio Anastasia, says it may not be a member of their own party, but someone from one of the parties in the coalition. The PT is expected to nominate the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Fernando Pimentel, as its candidate.
Re-elected last year with the backing of his political mentor Aécio Neves, Lacerda finds himself in a difficult position due to his party's national political maneuvering. The governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, is one of the potential presidential candidates in 2014 and is expected to face Aécio himself.
"All the leaders present here intend to have a conversation with the mayor at an appropriate time. There is work to be done," said Pestana after a meeting with leaders of allied parties of the PSDB in Minas Gerais.
