Valter Lima, from Sergipe 247 - The PSB State Directorate met this Friday morning (7) with all the leaders from the interior of the State to discuss the party's position with a view to this year's election. After the meeting, the regional president of the PSB, federal deputy Valadares Filho, told the press that the party will be open to negotiating with all parties. No group will be excluded from the discussions. The prerequisite that the PSB has established for negotiating alliances for the elections will be the party's participation in the majoritarian ticket. Valadares Filho did not rule out, in fact, the possibility of a PSB candidate, with Senator Valadares as the candidate for governor.

He also made it clear that the party's priority will be to build a platform for its presidential candidate, Eduardo Campos, in Sergipe. However, the state president of the PSB said that the party could be on the ticket headed by Governor Jackson Barreto (PMDB), even though he supports President Dilma Rousseff's (PT) candidacy for re-election. Valadares Filho stated that there are no problems in setting up a dual platform for the presidency.

"From this moment on, the PSB will begin to have conversations with all political groups in the state. Logically, conversations with Governor Jackson Barreto will continue, as we will continue to seek this understanding. The final decision regarding the party's direction for the 2014 election will be made in April, after another meeting of the board. Due to this national issue that the party is experiencing, with the presidential candidacy, we have received the request that we strengthen our platforms in the states. It will be no different here, which could even lead us to launch our own candidacy. We are open to strengthening Eduardo Campos's platform in the state. To that end, we will be on the main ticket, even in an assertive way, whether with a candidate for governor, vice-governor, or even senator, without ruling out any other platform," stated Valadares Filho.

He further reaffirmed that the PSB's relationship with Jackson "is very good" and therefore the party may support Jackson while opening a platform for Eduardo Campos. "The PSB demands that we have a strong platform in Sergipe. We could be with Jackson and with a dual platform," he stressed. Regarding the relationship with the mayor of the capital, João Alves Filho (DEM), the deputy stressed that, so far, the conversations between Valadares and the DEM leader have only been administrative, but that there will be a time to talk politics."

Below is the PSB resolution:

Considering that the PSB in Sergipe has maintained consistency and loyalty to the people of Sergipe over the years, reaffirming in each election, whether in opposition (for 15 years) or in government (for 7 years), its objectives of contributing with its participation to the implementation of new governance methods, with concern for social issues as its priority goal;

Considering that the actions of the PSB, through its members at all levels of political activity, whether in the National Congress, the Executive Branch of the Union, the state government, and the municipalities of Sergipe, have managed to win the sympathy and trust of thousands of voters eager for work and results, with responsibility and ethical conduct;

Considering that the PSB has within its ranks individuals capable of preserving, wherever they are, or carrying with them wherever they go, the values and examples demanded by a transparent and participatory democracy, translated into services rendered to society with complete detachment from positions, always acting with loyalty to the public cause in the exercise of the functions delegated to them;

Considering that the candidacy of our own for the presidency of the republic, in the person of the eminent president of our party Eduardo Campos, is not an impediment to the celebration of alliances that the PSB has maintained for many years in Sergipe;

Considering that, thanks to its commitment to change, renewal, and the undeniable fighting spirit of its leaders and activists, the PSB has always stood side by side with all those who dream and fight for a new Sergipe;

Finally, considering that, in recognition of this invaluable contribution of the PSB in the pursuit of consolidating a victorious, popular, and democratic political project, our party has never failed to hold a position on the main ticket since 1994, whether as governor, vice-governor, or senator of the republic.
