The PSB in Minas Gerais has opened dialogue with the PT to form a possible alliance in the state. The conversation included space on the proportional or majoritarian ballot and a joint platform that could host the candidate for re-election, President Dilma Rousseff (PT), and the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB), Rousseff's opponent at the national level. The information about the negotiation, which is unusual until now, comes from the state president of the PSB, federal deputy Júlio Delgado.
Delgado said that he had a meeting, last Friday (25), in Juiz de Fora, with the president of the PT in Minas Gerais, deputy Odair Cunha, and that they agreed on a meeting for next week. “He said that there is room for us on the ticket. We can share the stage with Dilma in the same way that we would share it with Aécio (Neves). In Espírito Santo this will happen,” he stated.
The statement comes amid unease caused by a Minas Gerais wing of the Rede Sustentabilidade party, which released a statement saying it does not support an alliance with the PSDB of Senator Aécio Neves, a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. Rede, a party that is expected to be created by former Senator Marina Silva, disavowed the group a day after the statement was released.
Delgado also contradicts Mayor Marcio Lacerda (PSB), who said that the party will not field a candidate in Minas Gerais against Aécio's PSDB. The PSDB will have former mayor Pimenta da Veiga as its candidate for governor of Minas Gerais. He will provide a platform for the senator's national campaign. Meanwhile, the PT has Minister Fernando Pimentel as its candidate for governor. The vice-governor position is being negotiated with the PMDB.
Aécio and Campos are trying to forge regional agreements across states, fielding unified candidacies to provide platforms for both. However, there are disagreements in some strongholds.
“We will talk to whoever we need to talk to. In politics, you don't close the door. We will leave it open,” Delgado stated. According to him, the party's decision in Minas Gerais will be made in a way that prioritizes a platform to accommodate Campos and his potential running mate, Marina Silva.
