PSB of São Paulo reaffirms loyalty to Alckmin.
Deputy Márcio França downplays the influence of the former senator, an ally of presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, on the party's decisions and stated that the party will accept the vice-presidential slot offered on the ticket for the reelection of the governor: “It makes no sense to replace the favorite candidate, which is Alckmin, with a willful candidacy. Marina joined the PSB with only 24 hours left before the deadline for affiliation.”
247 - The president of the PSB party in São Paulo, Congressman Márcio França, dismissed Marina Silva's request for a party candidate in the state and stated that the party will accept the vice-presidential slot offered on the ticket for Geraldo Alckmin's (PSDB) reelection.
In an interview with the Valor website, he downplayed the influence of the former senator, an ally of presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, on the party's decisions: “Marina joined the PSB 24 hours before the deadline for affiliation. We were already discussing alliances in the states when she joined. She affiliated 80 people to the PSB. We affiliated 232.”
According to him, the governor from the PSDB party nominated 70 of the 250 candidates that the party will launch this year. “It makes no sense to replace the favorite candidate, which is Alckmin, with a candidacy of mere ambition. Any candidacy without any real impact will drag us down,” he stated. “It would be a strategic error to give up a strong partnership.”Read more).
The decision creates a stalemate for Campos, who wants to officially nominate the former senator as his running mate. Marina is advocating for the candidacy of federal deputy Luiza Erundina (PSB) as a condition for filling the vacancy.read here).
