The PSB in Bahia confirms: it is not with Aécio.
The leader of the PSB in Bahia, Senator Lídice da Mata, officially announced that she will not support the PSDB candidate for president of the Republic, Aécio Neves; "I want to make clear my position that I will not support Aécio Neves' candidacy for President of the Republic. Nationally, my party decided on this support, but it was also decided that the specificities of each state would be respected," said the senator; the PSDB candidate will no longer receive support from the PSB in an important state, as Bahia is the largest in the Northeast and has the fourth largest electorate in the country.
Bahia 247 - As promised, the defeated PSB candidate for governor of Bahia, Lídice da Mata, officially announced, through her Facebook profile, that she will not support the PSDB candidate for president of the Republic, Aécio Neves. The senator did not publicly declare her vote for President Dilma Rousseff, but other leaders of the PSB in Bahia have made it clear that this is the path forward.
"I want to make it clear that I will not support Aécio Neves' candidacy for President of the Republic. Nationally, my party decided to support him, but it was also decided that the specificities of each state would be respected," Senator Lídice stated in a Facebook post.
Lídice's stance is consistent with her political history. Since her time as mayor of Salvador, from January 1, 1993, to December 31, 1997, she and the PT (Workers' Party) have worked together. The PSB (Brazilian Socialist Party) participated in Jaques Wagner's government from his first term in 2006. In 2010, she was elected senator on Wagner's ticket, who was re-elected governor.
Aécio Neves will no longer receive support from the PSB in an important state, as Bahia is the largest in the Northeast and has the fourth largest electorate in the country, with more than 11 million voters. It is worth noting that the Northeast is one of the main electoral strongholds of the PT, and Bahia in particular. Here, Aécio defeated Dilma in only one of the state's 417 cities.
