Prosecutor alleges that Lacerda may have known about the risk of the viaduct collapsing.

Minas 247 - The mayor of Belo Horizonte, Marcio Lacerda, who was not considered one of those responsible for the viaduct collapse in July of last year, will be investigated by the Public Prosecutor's Office in relation to the disaster. The main reason is an investigation by prosecutor Eduardo Nepomuceno, who alleges the possibility that Lacerda was aware of the structural flaws in the construction. 

“We are gathering evidence. The documentation so far shows that he (Lacerda) was aware of the problems. Therefore, he will be heard in due course,” explained the prosecutor. At this moment, the process is proceeding in the civil sphere, and he could face charges of administrative misconduct – but he could also be investigated criminally.
