Mariana Almeida, from Pernambuco 247 - The leader of the State Government's bloc in the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe), Waldemar Borges (PSB), stated that President Dilma Rousseff (PT) would be "afraid" to face the governor of Pernambuco and presidential candidate for the PSB, Eduardo Campos, during the October elections. In a debate with the leader of the opposition in Alepe, Sérgio Leite (PT), Borges lashed out against Dilma and harshly criticized the PT, stating that the party's project for Brazil needs to end before the party ends up destroying the country.

“We know that she [Dilma] is very afraid [of facing Campos],” Borges said in an interview with Rádio JC News, this Thursday (30), referring to the dispute between the presidential candidates for the Planalto Palace. The socialist defended Campos’ candidacy, highlighting the administration of Pernambuco and adding that the PSB recognizes the advances promoted by Dilma and former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), but that the party will not stop promoting debates and criticisms about the performance of the Federal Government.

The PSB member also criticized the Workers' Party, which has been in charge of the federal government for 12 years. "Before the PT's project destroys Brazil, it needs to end," Borges declared, referring to Dilma's administration. "We [from the government's base in Pernambuco] are making an effort to mitigate the damage that the Federal Government's decisions cause [to the population]," added the socialist, referring to the reduction in the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI) carried out by the national government, which, in his opinion, has "suffocated" the coffers of the municipalities.

Borges' criticisms were refuted by Sérgio Leite, who stated that "Brazil has only progressed in recent years." The Workers' Party member highlighted the incentives given by the Federal Government to the State of Pernambuco, and classified the high number of works carried out by Campos as derived from the federal aid received in recent years. "Without the partnership of the Federal Government, there would not have been the investments made in Pernambuco, also because the State does not have enough money to carry out these works. The State has to recognize this," said the Workers' Party member.
