Procon-SP notifies Palmeiras about ticket sales.
The club will have to present documents proving that tickets were sold to all fans, and not just to members of the fan club program, a practice considered abusive by the regulatory body; the sales refer to the two final matches of the Copa do Brasil.
Procon-SP - The Procon-SP Foundation, an agency linked to the Secretariat of Justice and Citizenship Defense, notified Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras this Wednesday, the 11th, to provide clarifications regarding the sale of tickets for the two games in the final phase of the Copa do Brasil.
The club must present documents proving the sale of tickets to fans in general, and not just to members of the fan club program, a practice considered abusive by Procon-SP (São Paulo's consumer protection agency). The quota of tickets (for both games); addresses of sales points (physical and online); the sales period; and information on prices charged per sector must also be clarified by Palmeiras.
The deadline to respond to the notification is 48 hours. If any irregularity is found, the club will face administrative proceedings, which could result in a fine ranging from approximately R$400,00 to R$6 million.
"According to the Fan Statute, anyone who goes to a stadium to watch a game is also a consumer, and the clubs and Federations are the companies that must provide a quality service and give the public full conditions to purchase tickets with clear and accurate information," analyzes the executive director of Procon-SP, Paulo Arthur Góes.
