The President of the Legislative Assembly wants to invite the Minister of National Integration to discuss the drought in Ceará.
The Assembly will invite the Minister of National Integration to discuss the drought in Ceará. The proposal was made at the opening of today's session by the president of the house, Deputy Zezinho Albuquerque. Yesterday's session dominated the topic with the presentation of a proposal to recreate the Special Drought Commission, which will be discussed after the event.
The president of the Legislative Assembly of Ceará, Deputy Zezinho Albuquerque (Pros), announced, at the opening of the plenary session this Thursday (05/02), the holding of a meeting on 27/02, which will aim to discuss the situation in Ceará in the face of its fifth year of below-average rainfall.
“We plan to convene a major debate with the Minister of National Integration, the State Governor, representatives from Funasa, Dnocs, and secretariats linked to the Executive branch, as well as Fetraece, Aprece, and all individuals involved in the public administration of our Ceará. I would like to count on the participation of parliamentarians in this event,” he said. According to the president of the Legislative Assembly, the objective is to become aware of everything that is being done in relation to the drought by the state and federal governments.
Zezinho Albuquerque pointed out that the proposal involves the ongoing monitoring of actions to combat the drought. The parliamentarian noted that, after the meeting, a new meeting would be held within 20 days, if necessary, to assess the measures taken by the governments. According to the president of the Legislative Assembly, the debates could be expanded to include the presidents of the assemblies of all states suffering from the drought problem.
“Our reservoirs are practically empty and, despite the rains in some municipalities, we need to be prepared in case these are just passing clouds. We will seek solutions for the suffering of our people. We need money. Money cannot be lacking,” declared Zezinho.
The president said he was proud of the other deputies for their concern about the drought in Ceará, a topic that was practically unanimous on the floor during the session last Wednesday (May 4th). "From the youngest deputy to the oldest," declared the president.
In support of the Speaker of the House, Representative Fernando Hugo (SD) reminded everyone that, at this moment, there should be no partisanship among parliamentarians. "To debate this calamity, there can be no government or opposition," emphasized Fernando Hugo.
