The city government promises a 6,49% salary increase for civil servants.
Civil servants should receive the difference in a single installment, unlike in previous years, according to the Secretary of Government, Osmar Magalhães; the impact on the municipality's payroll will be approximately R$ 6.5 million per month; the announcement was made at a meeting between the city hall and the Municipal Forum in Defense of Civil Servants (photo).
Goiás247_ The City Hall of Goiânia will send a bill to the City Council by Monday, May 20th, proposing a salary increase for municipal employees. The announcement was made by Mayor Paulo Garcia during a meeting on Thursday afternoon, May 16th, with the Municipal Forum in Defense of Public Servants, which brings together several unions, including the Union of Workers of the Municipality of Goiânia (Sindigoiânia), the Union of Education Workers of Goiás (Sintego), and the Union of Municipal Inspection Employees of Goiânia (Sindiffisc), as well as associations linked to these entities.
The project proposes a 6,49% salary increase, representing the accumulated inflation over the last 12 months, according to the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA). The increase should be retroactive to May 1st. The proposal is expected to be processed in the City Council on Tuesday, and the city hall anticipates that, if approved and published, employees will receive the difference in their June salaries.
According to the Secretary of Government, Osmar Magalhães, public employees have received salary adjustments annually. "The difference is that, this year, despite the city's financial situation, we will make the adjustment in a single payment and not in installments, as happened in other years," the secretary highlighted. The impact on the municipality's payroll will be approximately R$ 6.5 million per month.
The announcement was well received by the unions present at the meeting. According to the director of Sindigoiânia, Rosedália Marçal, the fact that the base date adjustment was not staggered is a key difference. "We understand that the public servant will be surprised, because for years, the payments have been staggered," she noted.
