Works
With an investment of R$ 95 million, the works on the new Avenida Aguanambi began in February of last year and are part of the Messejana/Centro express corridor. The project includes several interventions in the region, such as the requalification and urbanization of the avenue, which will have four lanes for vehicle traffic, one of which will be exclusively for public transport, in addition to new sidewalks, a bike path, the installation of six bus stations along the central median, and the renovation of two squares and the existing roundabout under the new viaduct.
The Municipal Infrastructure Secretariat (Seinf) reports that the project is 65% complete. Scheduled for completion in January 2018, the project includes the expansion and urbanization of the entire Aguanambi Avenue, in the section between Domingos Olímpio Avenue and the Eduardo Girão Avenue roundabout.
When the interventions are completed, Fortaleza will have its third express bus corridor. The system will guarantee a reduction in travel time for buses, especially on Av. Aguanambi, where 71 vehicles currently travel daily, in addition to 37 bus lines that benefit approximately 198 passengers daily. The renovation and expansion works of the Messejana Terminal are also part of this urban mobility project. The new Messejana Terminal is scheduled for completion in November of this year.
