Ceará 247 - Mayor Roberto Cláudio will inaugurate, this Wednesday (27), at 16 pm, the second Medicines Distribution Center, located at the Conjunto Ceará Terminal. The first Center, installed at the Antônio Bezerra Terminal, was delivered to the population on August 16th. The equipment aims to reinforce the supply of 84 priority medicines for Primary Care in the network of health posts in Fortaleza.

The Drug Distribution Centers at the Terminal (CDMT) are part of the actions aimed at regulating the distribution of medicines, carried out by the Fortaleza City Hall and, consequently, enabling access for the population. These centers, which exclusively serve users of the integrated bus terminals, are an extension of the pharmacies at the health centers and only dispense medications whose prescriptions have been previously processed at the pharmacies of these units.

Users who visit the pharmacy at the health center and cannot find any of the medications on the priority list provided by the Municipality will be advised and referred to the Central Medication Distribution Center of their choice, which must have a guaranteed supply. The medication will be reserved for the patient at the Center for a period of two business days.

In this second phase, medication will be served at the Drug Distribution Centers located at the Antônio Bezerra and Conjunto Ceará Terminals, according to the user's choice during their visit to the pharmacy at the health post. This will serve users from thirty health units (as per the list below), located in Regions I, III, and V. By the end of this year, seven centers will be implemented in container structures at the city's urban bus terminals. Gradually, as the other centers are installed, the number of eligible units will increase until all seven centers are operational.

Fortaleza currently has 109 health centers and one annex, operating Monday through Friday from 7 am to 19 pm, all with pharmacies and dispensing of medications from the priority list for Primary Care.

In addition to this service, the health centers offer medical, dental, and nursing care for users with hypertension, diabetes, leprosy, tuberculosis, and HIV. They also provide prenatal and postpartum care, care for children and the elderly; collection of laboratory samples; outpatient procedures; prevention of oral and gynecological cancer; rapid HIV and syphilis testing; issuance of the SUS Card (Brazilian National Health System card), among other services. Under the current administration, 70 units have already been renovated and 19 new health centers have been built.
