247 - In the midst of an election year, the city of São Paulo, under the administration of Bruno Covas, doubled its spending on advertising and prioritized campaigns for programs that are showcases for João Doria (PSDB), to the detriment of actions promoting pension reform, education, and combating the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.

"Doria left the mayor's office to run for state governor in April, when he began touring the interior of the state. In his campaign platform, he promises to bring programs from the capital to the rest of São Paulo." The administration of Mayor Bruno Covas (PSDB) says that the city hall followed the law, with informational campaigns that make no mention of the former mayor. In the first half of this year, under Doria and Covas, the direct administration of the capital spent R$ 73,8 million on advertising, compared to R$ 36,3 million last year, in adjusted values -- a variation of 103%.
