The City Hall of Goiânia releases January salaries.

The city hall of Goiânia announced this morning that it has released the payment of January salaries for municipal employees; Mayor Iris Rezende (PMDB) cited financial problems in his administration as the reason for not fulfilling his promise to pay within the month worked, as his predecessor, former mayor Paulo Garcia (PT), did; Iris's team claims there is a short-term debt in the city hall amounting to R$ 610 million, in addition to a monthly deficit of almost R$ 30 million.

Goiás 247 - The city hall of Goiânia announced this morning that it has released the payment of January salaries for municipal employees. Mayor Iris Rezende (PMDB) cited financial problems in his administration as the reason for not fulfilling his promise to pay within the month worked, as his predecessor, former mayor Paulo Garcia (PT), had done.

Iris's team claims there is a short-term debt in the city hall amounting to R$ 610 million, in addition to a monthly deficit of almost R$ 30 million. The City Council approved the creation of a Special Commission of Inquiry (CEI) that will investigate the city hall's accounts from 2008 until last year to determine the financial shortfall.
