The mayor from the PMDB party calls Kátia a "dictator".

The mayor of Alvorada, Wached Neto, from the PMDB party, accused Senator and reelection candidate Kátia Abreu of negotiating the PMDB's leadership for her own interests and of establishing a "dictatorship" within the party. "We, from the PMDB in the state of Tocantins, were prevented from voting; there is a huge dictatorship, perpetrated by a senator named Kátia Abreu, who has no respect or consideration," Wached declared. The candidate for first alternate senator, Marilis Fernandes (PDT), also criticized the PMDB candidate: "I want to say that enough is enough of 'Abreu,' we can no longer tolerate her arrogance and ignorance; Southern Tocantins can't take it anymore," she said. The southern region is dissatisfied with Kátia.

Tocantins 247 - During a meeting in the municipality of Figueirópolis, in the southern region of Tocantins, on Tuesday, the 5th, the mayor of Alvorada, José George Wached Neto, from the PMDB party, did not hold back in his criticism of Senator and reelection candidate Kátia Abreu, from the coalition "Experience Makes the Change". In a harsh speech, Wached accused Kátia of negotiating the PMDB for her own interests and of establishing a "dictatorship" within the party. The event was attended by the candidate for vice-governor, Angelo Agnolin, and the candidate for first alternate senator, Marilis Fernandes, both from the coalition "The Change We See", which has Governor Sandoval Cardoso running for reelection.

"I am a member of the PMDB, I always have been, and I want to remain in the party, but this is frightening. I am someone who has always valued democracy, I believe and am certain that we must choose candidates in the most democratic way possible, and within a party, [Kátia] knows that there is a convention, and that the PMDB has more than 130 delegates, to choose its candidates for state and federal deputies, senator, and governor. But we, from the PMDB of the state of Tocantins, were prevented from voting, because I understand that there is indeed a huge dictatorship there, by a senator named Kátia Abreu, who has no respect or consideration," Wached said, according to Folha do Tocantins.read here).

The mayor of Alvorada spoke about Kátia Abreu's trickery to take control of the state PMDB party. "How can she appoint a senator from Mato Grosso do Sul as the state president of our party? He has to take care of his own state, and the clever senator is taking over as vice-president so he can step aside and remain in command. Many of my colleagues in Alvorada, as I've already said, think she's going to give the party back, but after the elections she's going to hand it over to our opponents. Because in Alvorada I already know who will be in charge. As long as the PMDB in Alvorada has never had an owner, it's a disrespect to the people. I will not accept that our party be given away or sold for personal gain," he said.

José Wached justified his support for Governor Sandoval Cardoso's reelection, stating that he has witnessed the actions and benefits the state government has provided to municipalities, regardless of political affiliation. "It's not the state government's obligation to come and fix streets and fill potholes in the city. That obligation is ours as mayor, but the governor, sensitive to the difficulties faced by the municipalities, seeing that the people were in a difficult situation, having to walk on potholed streets, came to help us. We have a governor who doesn't belong to one faction or another; he belongs to Tocantins, to the people of Tocantins," Wached concluded.

"Enough of Abreu"

The councilwoman of Gurupi and candidate for first alternate senator for Eduardo Gomes, Marilis Fernandes, said that she was chosen for the position because of the work she has been doing in Gurupi and also launched criticisms towards the PMDB candidate. "I want to say that enough is enough of 'Abreu', we can no longer tolerate his arrogance and ignorance; Southern Tocantins can't take it anymore, Southern Tocantins needs to grow, and it is with these new men that our coalition is presenting, with people from the South of the State and with people from Figueirópolis, to make our region and Tocantins a better State," she said.

Marilis also stated that she is representing all 1.435 city councilors in the state. "Eduardo Gomes was very clear with me, saying, 'I'm not choosing you for money, you were chosen because you are a woman, because you are a city councilor, and because of the work you have done,'" said Eduardo's alternate.
