Fearing even greater disruptions to citizens and the risk of chaos on match days of the Confederations Cup, the City Hall of Salvador decided to declare a municipal holiday on the next two days, the 20th (Thursday) and 22nd (Saturday).

In a statement, the city hall says that the objective is to maintain the integrity of the commitments made for the event, which impose temporary limitations on urban mobility in the city, such as the partial closure of important roads like Avenida Bonocô, the area surrounding Arena Fonte Nova – Dique do Tororó –, parts of Avenida Vasco da Gama and Avenida Joana Angélica, and Vale de Nazaré, as well as the closure of the Lapa Station and the Barroquinha Terminal.

"Mayor ACM Neto (DEM), after listening to technicians and specialists from various bodies involved in the international sporting event, and with the aim of avoiding major traffic disruptions, decided to declare a municipal holiday on the 20th (Thursday) and 22nd (Saturday)," says an article from G1.

On the 20th, Arena Fonte Nova will host the match between Uruguay and Nigeria, and on Saturday, the Brazilian National Team will play against Italy. The third and final game of the Confederations Cup in Salvador (the third-place match) will be held on Sunday the 30th.
