Pre-candidate Cotrim wants to reduce the size of the Senate.
Celsinho Cotrim (PRTB-BA), a pre-candidate for the Senate, advocates for reducing the Senate by two-thirds, from 81 to 27 senators, one from each state; he also promises to fight to reduce the term from eight to four years and to end reelection.
Bahia 247 - As a way to put an end to the "perpetuation" of power, as a pre-candidate for senator for PRONA and affiliated with PRTB, Celsinho Cotrim advocates reducing the Senate by two-thirds, from 81 to 27 senators, one from each state.
He also states that he will fight to reduce the term from eight to four years and also end reelection. He, for example, registered with a notary that he will only run for one term.
“All of this is not only to put an end to the perpetuation of certain political bosses in power—some, for example, who have already made politics a profession—but also to reduce the high costs of offices and expense allowances so that they can be invested in areas that are truly priorities for the population,” he emphasized, reinforcing that a political position is not a profession and cannot be considered as such. “And this needs to end, because these are the changes that the population is demanding,” he concluded.
