Bahia 247 - Gas stations in Salvador will have to display posters or digital signs informing customers of the price ratio between ethanol and gasoline. The decree mandating this measure was published in the Official Gazette of the Municipality this past weekend (December 14-16) and will take effect 90 days after its publication.

With this law, authored by councilman Tiago Correia, the City Hall seeks to inform consumers when it will be more advantageous to consume ethanol instead of gasoline.

Today, according to calculations by the agencies responsible for the fuel sector, it is advantageous to choose ethanol when its price is equivalent to up to 70% of the price of gasoline.

According to the decree, the posters must be in visible locations and with lettering of the same size or larger than that used to display fuel prices.

The inspection will be carried out by the Municipal Consumer Protection Coordination (Codecon). In cases of irregularities, offenders may be fined up to three minimum wages. The costs related to the production of posters or signs will be the responsibility of the gas station.
