Poland opened the scoring just two minutes into the game when Kamil Grosicki went down the left and crossed into the middle for Robert Lewandowski to strike with the side of his foot to score his first goal of the tournament.
Renato Sanches, who is 18 years old and made his first start for Portugal, equalized in the 33rd minute of the first half, receiving a back pass from Nani and shooting from the edge of the area to beat goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
