Why should you work at a startup before becoming an entrepreneur?

Hey guys!

Today I'm going to talk about topics I love: work and startups! But both will be explored together. Many people want to have an idea, to start a business… but they lack experience or don't know how to begin. I would say this: why don't you start by working for a startup? Don't worry, you don't have to stay there forever, but you can learn a lot from the mistakes and successes of others and, of course, find out if that's really what you want for your life. It's a hectic routine, with many hours of dedication, changes in strategy (the famous pivoting), few resources… I could spend hours talking about this rollercoaster life I've been living for over 5 years.

Speaking a little about what I've learned, I started in the startup world in 2011 when I worked at Peixe Urbano. Since then, I've worked at others like SaferTaxi, Movile, and today I'm the COO of Mobocity. Many people always ask me why I don't have my own company, and I do, my blogs… I never wanted to have a startup, but I always wanted to be part of one to eventually own shares, and that's what's happening to me today at the company where I work. I've learned so much from all these entrepreneurs I've met that not even a college degree or books could have helped me become the professional I am today!

If you lack ideas, you'll end up having one! If you lack experience, you'll learn from those who have been through a lot! If you lack courage, you'll start to feel the "hands-on" entrepreneurial drive you needed! If you lack contacts, you'll start meeting people in your daily life, at events, and... LinkedIn.

Working for other people doesn't make you better or worse. But learning on the job from others can show you that you're not just playing around in the entrepreneurial world. As I always say: curiosity and practice take us wherever we want to go!

In the video, I share some case studies of people who worked for a startup and then became entrepreneurs, a bit about my own experience, and much more!

Good Business!
