247 - UEFA has announced that England and Russia could be excluded from the European Championship if fans from both countries continue to cause disorder and fights during the tournament in France.

The organization has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Russian Football Federation for the disturbance that occurred on Saturday, after the 1-1 draw between Russia and England. After the final whistle, Russian fans advanced on English supporters, causing disorder in the stands. Flares were found inside the stadium belonging to the Russian fans.

There were assaults inside the stadium. Amid the fighting, fans (many women and children) ran desperately for protection. Many jumped onto the pitch, fearing they would become targets.

The governing body of European football deemed the Russians responsible for the chaos that resulted in several injuries. UEFA announced that it will impose a sanction (fine) against the Russians on Tuesday.

"This type of behavior is totally unacceptable and has no place in football," stated a UEFA press release.
