Police will investigate rape at UFJF.

A 17-year-old girl from São Paulo was allegedly raped and subjected to sexual intercourse during a freshman orientation event at a university in Minas Gerais. However, bureaucracy is hindering the start of the investigation.

Minas 247 - The rape of a 17-year-old girl from São Paulo at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora is causing quite a stir in the city in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais. The rape, not yet fully confirmed, allegedly occurred during a freshman orientation event at the Institute of Arts and Design (IAD) of UFJF last Friday night.

After that, the university decided to reactivate a commission to create stricter rules for events and hazing rituals on campus. In March, according to the Tribuna de Minas newspaper, the main newspaper in Juiz de Fora, a freshman in the Architecture and Urbanism course became ill and needed to be hospitalized after consuming alcohol during a hazing ritual.

Officially, the Family Protection and Guidance Unit of the Civil Police will conduct the investigations into the rape. However, they have not yet begun due to bureaucratic procedures. Only on Monday, for example, was the investigation assigned to the Civil Police finalized. But the head delegate, Maria Isabella Bovalente, had not yet received the official report of the incident.

The parents of the freshman and victim have already contacted lawyers. "If there isn't a thorough investigation, other people could end up being victims like our daughter," the teenager's father told Tribuna de Minas. She will not return to study at UFJF. "Juiz de Fora is over for her."
