Alagoas247 - More than 30 agoutis and a capybara were collected in Maceió, after a complaint received by the Environmental Police Battalion (BPA), on the morning of this Friday (17). The wild animals were kept in captivity located in a residence in Village Campestre 2, in the upper part of the capital of Alagoas.
Ibevaldo Oscar Nascimento raised the animals in his backyard without any type of license or authorization from the competent environmental agency to keep them in captivity. He stated to the police that he received the animals from relatives who live in the countryside, but that he did not sell them.
Lieutenant Vitor of the Military Police Battalion (BPA) stated that the animals showed no signs of mistreatment. Nevertheless, a Detailed Incident Report (TCO) will be filed for an environmental crime.
A team from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) was called in to collect the animals, which will undergo a triage process before being returned to their natural habitat.
