'Legislative power has been usurped by the Executive branch'

Senator and pre-candidate for President from the PSDB party, Aécio Neves, once again criticized the Federal Government, stating that the function of the National Congress has been "usurped by the Executive Branch"; "Today, we are an appendage of the Executive Branch. The National Congress, under the government majority, now does nothing more than ratify the government's decisions," he declared.

Minas247 – Senator and pre-candidate for President of the Republic for PSDB, Aécio Neves, again criticized the Federal Government and said that the function of the National Congress was "usurped by the Executive Branch". In a solemn session, this Tuesday (29), in the Senate in honor of the 25 years of the Federal Constitution, the tucano said that the Legislative is "divorcing" itself from society.

"Today, we are an appendage of the Executive Branch. The National Congress, based on the government majority, does nothing more than ratify the government's decisions. It does nothing more than vote on the government's agenda, much of it through provisional measures. When I presided over the Chamber of Deputies, I managed to approve a proposal that prevented the indefinite or unlimited re-issuance of provisional measures," he declared. According to the senator, the consideration of the bill is stalled.

"An important advance at that time, they (the provisional measures) began to block the agenda. But we had a side effect, which was the excessive blocking of the agenda. We presented a new proposal in the Senate. In fact, I reported on a proposal from President José Sarney, which was unanimously approved, but unfortunately, it has not yet been deliberated by the Chamber of Deputies. It's been almost two years. It was necessary for this proposal to be approved so that Congress could, interpreting the sentiment of the streets, present its own agenda," he said.

On the same day, the senator had said that the majority of the population does not vote for President Dilma Rousseff (PT), who has secured first place in the polls. "These polls, if you analyze them more deeply, show that more than 60% of the population does not want to vote for the current president of the Republic, even though she has 100% name recognition, a daily and overwhelming media presence. I think whoever goes to the second round with the current president of the Republic, if she even goes to the second round, will win the elections," he said.
