PMDB ignores PT, which threatens to break alliance.

Iris Rezende wants to postpone the definition of the alliance's candidate for the state government race as much as possible; the PT (Workers' Party) is not interested because the party's pre-candidates, Gomide and Paulo Garcia, need to leave the mayoralties of Anápolis and Goiânia by April 5th; "If confirmed, this decision leaves the PT out of the discussion," says PT deputy Luis Cesar Bueno about the PMDB's (Brazilian Democratic Movement Party) attempt to postpone; "We hope to be with the PMDB, but we cannot wait any longer than that," also warns César Donizete, the new president of the PT's state directory.

Goiás 247- The PMDB's intention to postpone the selection of its gubernatorial candidate for as long as possible is further damaging the party's relationship with the PT. Iris Rezende is controlling this delay, as he has an interest in undermining Júnior Friboi's aspirations. However, the PT needs a decision by the beginning of April because the deadline for its two prospective candidates, Paulo Garcia and Antônio Gomide, to resign from their mayoral positions is April 5th.

State Representative Luis Cesar Bueno (PT) sets the tone for this veiled confrontation when answering a question from the Giro column of O Popular newspaper about this postponement. “If confirmed, this decision leaves the PT out of the discussion. Our two candidates for governor are Mayors Paulo Garcia and Antônio Gomide, who need to resign from their positions within the legal deadline, on April 5th,” said the legislator.

The proof that the PT is ready to carry out its rebellion is that within the party the discourse is aligned. It's not just Luis Cesar who is making threats against Iris and Friboi's PMDB. The new president of the PT's state directory arrived showing his worth and went all out against the friendly party.

César Donizete gave an interview to Rádio Vinha FM and made it clear that if the election goes beyond April 5th, the PT (Workers' Party) will withdraw. "We have two good pre-candidates, who are the mayors of Goiânia, Paulo Garcia, and of Anápolis, Antônio Gomide," Donizete stated.

“We cannot wait, because the law requires that mayors resign from office on April 5th. The PT cannot wait. We will choose by April 5th. We hope to be together with the PMDB, but we cannot wait any longer than that. We hope that the PMDB will show good sense because we want to discuss the candidate together,” the new president added.

The national seal

Last October, rumors surfaced that the national PT party had ordered the start of preparations for Gomide's candidacy. Paulo Garcia's name had been more frequently mentioned, but his performance as mayor of Goiânia and his low poll numbers reportedly relegated him to the background.
