PMDB and Marconista base covet Vanderlan.
Second in the polls and with a relatively untarnished image, businessman Vanderlan Cardoso (PSB) is being sought for alliances in the race for mayor of the capital; the Marconist base has intensified contact with Vanderlan's allies and awaits a more forceful signal to close a deal; Deputy Daniel Vilela said that the PMDB should support Vanderlan if the party does not field its own candidate for mayor of Goiânia.
Goiás 247 - Businessman Vanderlan Cardoso (PSB) has become a key player in the election for mayor of Goiânia. Second in the polls and with a relatively untainted image among voters, Vanderlan is being courted by the PMDB and also by the allied base of Governor Marconi Perillo.
Federal deputy Daniel Vilela stated this Monday that the PMDB party should support Vanderlan Cardoso if the party does not field its own candidate. Currently, within the PMDB, Bruno Peixoto and Agenor Mariano are the leading names for a mayoral candidacy. Peixoto, who is a state deputy, was the top performer in the Serpes/O Popular poll, with 4,6%.
Within the allied base, all pre-candidates are maintaining their candidacies for the moment: Luiz Bittencourt (PTB), Francisco Júnior (PSD), and Giuseppe Vecci (PSDB). A meeting this week with Governor Marconi should decide the group's future. Over the past weekend, behind-the-scenes discussions about possible support from the base for Vanderlan's project intensified.
However, the supporters of Marconi expect a sign of reciprocity from Vanderlan. They want him to embrace the allied base and be seen as the government's candidate, something that is not in the businessman's plans.
