Tocantins 247 - Military police officers from the Luzinópolis detachment, in the Bico do Papagaio region, received a phone call on Wednesday, the 19th, with information about a possible robbery between the cities of Angico and Luzinópolis. Based on the report, the police arrested Plácido Moraes de Sousa, 23 years old, and recovered a truck that was being stolen by the criminals.
According to information from the Military Police, after learning of a suspected robbery, officers went to the side of highway TO-134, set up a roadblock, and requested reinforcements from neighboring detachments. While the patrol car awaited the arrival of other units, it noticed that a truck and a Fiat Uno that were traveling together changed course upon seeing the police and headed towards BR-230 in the direction of Estreito (MA). The patrol car decided to follow the two vehicles from a distance, when it saw three men inside the truck's cab, one of whom was pointing a gun at the driver.
According to the Military Police, when they tried to stop the truck, one of the criminals threatened to shoot the victim if the officers did not move away, causing the patrol to retreat, but the police continued to follow the truck at a distance. "The criminals then abandoned the truck near Km 62 of the BR-230 highway and took the victim into the thicket bordering the road, later releasing him about 200 meters into the woods," the police said.
When the victim was released, a 31-year-old man whose name was not revealed, he reported that after the municipality of Darcinópolis, on the TO-134 highway, he gave a ride to a woman and soon realized he was being followed by a dark-colored Fiat Uno with four people inside. Upon passing the access road to the city of Nazaré, the Uno, which he had already overtaken, was stopped, and two of the four occupants were outside, brandishing weapons and announcing the robbery.
With the arrival of reinforcements, the search for the perpetrators began, and around 15 PM, the Military Police were informed that a man with a revolver had forced a motorcyclist to drive him to a rural area. The officers went to the location, and when Plácido saw the police, he ran into the woods, leaving behind his clothes, shoes, a cell phone, and a .38 caliber revolver with five intact cartridges. Suspecting that the perpetrator would return to retrieve his belongings, the officers waited, and around 17:30 PM, the criminal returned, at which point he was apprehended.
