Pimentel criticizes PSDB's debt management.
The PT (Workers' Party) candidate for governor of Minas Gerais, Fernando Pimentel, stated that the state executive branch, governed for 12 years by the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party), lacked the capacity to adopt strategies to alleviate the pressure of debt on public coffers; "Minas Gerais is currently the state with the highest debt – it must be around R$41 or 42 billion (Minas Gerais' debt today exceeds R$70 billion). Part of this is old and part is new," said the PT member.
Mines 247 – Fernando Pimentel, the PT candidate for governor of Minas Gerais, stated that the state executive branch, governed for 12 years by the PSDB, lacked the capacity to adopt strategies to alleviate the pressure of debt on public coffers. The PSDB's candidate is former minister Pimenta da Veiga.
"Minas Gerais is currently the state with the highest debt - it must be around R$41, 42 billion (Minas Gerais' debt today exceeds R$70 billion). Part of this is old and part is new," said Pimentel, this Wednesday (9), after a meeting with members of the allied base, in Barro Preto, South-Central Region of Belo Horizonte.
According to the former minister, "the State could have used the resources it obtained to pay off the old debt, because it has very high interest rates due to being agreed upon under very unfavorable conditions."
The Workers' Party member promises to resume the discussion about the debts in the Legislative Assembly if elected. "They are taking new money for investments and letting the old debt weigh heavily on the state budget. All of this will be subject to reflection," said the former minister.
Pimentel also met in the afternoon with entities linked to the Military Police (PM), and criticized the PSDB administration in Minas Gerais. “There is a lack of coordination between the two police forces. In the interior, there are municipalities with police units and patrol cars, but which do not have a Civil Police station. The detainee and the witness need to be taken to another city,” he stated.
