Pimenta da Veiga returns to politics thanks to Aécio.
Having been away from office for 10 years, the former mayor of Belo Horizonte and former minister in Fernando Henrique Cardoso's government says he intends to dedicate himself to the campaign of the Minas Gerais senator so that he achieves a historic result in the state: "The votes he contested in Minas Gerais were obtained more easily. This time, it will be for the Presidency. Therefore, we want to transfer the votes and support that he and Anastasia received to the national campaign."
247 – The former mayor of Belo Horizonte and former minister in the Fernando Henrique Cardoso administration, Pimenta da Veiga, promises a triumphant return to Minas Gerais political life after being away for 10 years to dedicate himself "entirely" to the presidential campaign of Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG).
"It needs to have a very significant result, a signal for Brazil. We will work to ensure that it has a historic result here," he said in an interview with Valor.
Pimenta da Veiga says he has already started working and that he will, alongside other PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) leaders, travel throughout the state. "The votes he competed for in Minas Gerais were obtained more easily. This time, it will be for the Presidency. Therefore, we want to transfer the votes and support that he and Anastasia received to the national campaign."
Pimenta da Veiga said he will also help in discussions and negotiations for the PSDB's campaign for governor of Minas Gerais. Currently, the party's potential candidates are polling between 3% and 5%.
