Piauí saw a 32% reduction in dengue cases.

The updated bulletin from the 48th Epidemiological Week of the State Health Secretariat (Sesapi) indicates a 32% reduction in dengue cases compared to the same period last year; the data refers to the period from January to December 7th; 5.156 dengue cases were registered in 149 cities; chikungunya cases in Piauí reached 2.107; regarding Zika, 224 cases were registered; there are also records of three deaths from arboviruses, one from Zika, one from dengue, and one from chikungunya.

The updated bulletin for the 48th Epidemiological Week from the State Health Secretariat (Sesapi) indicates a 32% reduction in dengue cases compared to the same period last year. The data refers to the period from January to December 7th. A total of 5.156 dengue cases were registered in 149 cities.

In Piauí, cases of chikungunya have reached 2.107. Regarding Zika, 224 cases have been registered. There are also records of three deaths from arboviruses: one from Zika, one from dengue, and one from chikungunya.

The population should maintain preventive measures, such as checking that water tanks are properly closed, not discarding garbage in vacant lots and keeping garbage cans always tightly closed, not accumulating water in containers, putting sand in plant pot saucers, among other initiatives that help control the disease.

Em relação aos registros de microcefalia, no Piauí foram notificados 197 casos suspeitos associados a processo infeccioso nesse período. Destes, 99 foram confirmados como processo infeccioso, sendo dois relacionados ao zika vírus e 86 descartados. Os municípios com os maiores números de casos notificados foram: Teresina (68), Parnaíba (12), Barras (06), Altos (04), José de Freitas (05), Piripiri (04) e União (04).
