Federal Police: Group counterfeited money in Porto Alegre
The Federal Police (PF) launched Operation Inkjet 2, aimed at dismantling a group that counterfeited money in Porto Alegre; two preventive arrest warrants, two search and seizure warrants, and two warrants for coercive questioning are being executed in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Osório (RS), and in Guapó (GO). According to the investigation, the group manufactured approximately R$ 100 per month in counterfeit bills; the money was traded through social media with buyers throughout Brazil.

The Federal Police (PF) launched Operation Inkjet 2 this Thursday morning (30), with the aim of dismantling a group that counterfeited money in Porto Alegre. Two preventive arrest warrants, two search and seizure warrants and two coercive conduct warrants are being executed in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, in Osório (RS) and in Guapó (GO).
According to the investigation, the group manufactured approximately R$ 100 per month in counterfeit bills. The money was traded through social media with buyers throughout Brazil. The Federal Police classified the counterfeiting done by those involved as "of excellent quality."
The suspect identified as responsible for manufacturing the banknotes had already been arrested during Operation Inkjet in 2010 and convicted by the Federal Court. The penalty for the crime of counterfeiting national currency is 3 to 12 years in prison.
