Pernambuco exceeds the limits of the Fiscal Responsibility Law and becomes a target of the opposition.

The Pernambuco state government has admitted that the state has exceeded the prudential spending limit stipulated by the Fiscal Responsibility Law. In February, personnel expenses reportedly reached 47,14%, when the limit is 46,55%. The opposition personally blamed Governor Paulo Câmara (PSB) for this; "It is very clear that these are the accounts that Secretary Paulo Câmara left for Governor Paulo Câmara," said the leader of the opposition in the Pernambuco Legislative Assembly (Alepe), Silvio Costa Filho (PTB); Paulo Câmara was Secretary of Finance before running for Governor of the State in 2014.

Pernambuco 247 - The Pernambuco state government has admitted that the state has exceeded the prudential spending limit stipulated by the Fiscal Responsibility Law. In February, personnel expenses reportedly reached 47,14%, when the limit is 46,55%. "At this moment, the government cannot make a commitment, as it goes beyond its fiscal capacity, not only due to the economic crisis, but mainly because of the commitment of personnel expenses, which already exceed 46% of net current revenue, which could have serious consequences for Pernambuco," stated the Secretary of Administration, Milton Coelho. The opposition personally blamed Governor Paulo Câmara (PSB) for the situation.

"It is very clear that these are the accounts that Secretary Paulo Câmara left for Governor Paulo Câmara," said the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe), Silvio Costa Filho (PTB). According to him, Paulo Câmara, who was the Secretary of Finance before running for Governor of the State, should have done his homework back in 2014.

"The state spent too much, excessively. There was a lack of planning," he said. "The state hasn't reached such a worrying level of fiscal imbalance in a long time," he added.

The PTB member did not hold back in his criticism of the PSB's stance, which advocates for reducing public spending at the federal level. "The PSB nationally defends the idea that the federal government should reduce the cost of the public administration. So it should do its homework. Even to give credibility to its demands at the federal level," says Sílvio Costa Filho.
