Pernambuco cuts nearly R$ 200 million in spending.

The cuts mainly affected the areas of advertising, vehicle rentals, per diem allowances, airfare, outsourced services, telephony, and telematics. The Spending Contingency Plan was instituted in February of this year. 

According to the Secretary of the State Government, Rodrigo Amaro, the trend is for the measures to be expanded after the official release of the quarterly data. "Several cost-saving measures are being agreed upon with public agencies for the coming months," he said.

According to Amaro, the main measures resulted in savings of R$ 40 million in outsourced contracts, R$ 3,5 million in fuel costs, R$ 9,3 million in vehicle rentals, R$ 1,6 million in fleet maintenance, and R$ 1,6 million in telephone expenses. The State also returned 42 vehicles.
