Goiás 247 Governor Marconi Perillo reaffirmed that his candidacy for president of the PSDB party is still on track. The governor from Goiás stated that he spoke with former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso.

The two spoke by phone on Sunday. FHC was in the United States. Marconi stated that he was consulted by FHC about the possibility of a single slate for the election of the executive committee. He told the former president that he agrees with the idea, but that he will maintain his candidacy until the end.

"The fact is that my candidacy remains standing. I will go to the convention as a candidate for president of the PSDB," said Perillo. "And there, when it comes time to choose the executive committee, if we have two or three candidates, we will vote, choose, and decide. Whoever wins, wins and has the support of the others," he added.

Governor Geraldo Alckmin stated yesterday that he does not plan to run for president of the PSDB party, despite appeals from party leaders. "I do not intend to be a candidate for party president. We have two names in the running, and we have excellent names that can still be evaluated. But this is a decision that rests with the party."

Considered a potential candidate for president of the Republic in 2018, Alckmin has been under pressure to assume the national leadership of the PSDB.
