Perillo invests heavily in Iris Rezende's stronghold in the capital.
The governor has been mobilizing government departments and directing projects, resources, and benefits to the Northwest Region, which encompasses 60 neighborhoods and approximately 500 residents and has always been considered an area dominated by Iris Rezende. The region has already hosted the Itinerant Government program (pictured), and this month Perillo inaugurated a Vapt Vupt unit. Saneago will invest R$ 337 million in water and sewage treatment, and Agehab has been promoting land regularization for residents. One of the showcase projects of the Perillo administration, Hugo 2, is being built in the region. The hospital is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2014.
Goiás 247_ One of the actions that demonstrates Governor Marconi Perillo's intention to run for reelection is the special dedication his administration has shown to the Northwest Region of Goiânia – known for being a stronghold of Iris Rezende.
The region encompasses 60 neighborhoods and is the most populous in the capital, with approximately 500 residents. Perillo has made a point of mobilizing various departments of his government to support the Northwest Region.
This is a strategic action aimed at helping to improve the governor's image in the capital, where, according to the Serpes/O Popular survey, his administration is approved by only 15,3% of respondents. Overall, his approval rating is almost double that, at 30,4%.
In July alone, three benefits were announced for the Northwest Region: a Vapt Vupt unit was opened, Saneago guaranteed investments worth R$ 337 million in the sewage sector, and Agehab announced a land regularization program.
The first edition of this year's Itinerant Government program was held in the region, and the governor delivered property deeds, school kits, and announced R$ 212 million in service orders.
Security is one of the main bottlenecks in the region and is also part of the strategic package established by the government. The Northwest Region is part of the so-called Integrated Security Areas, which are regions that receive joint police reinforcement from the Military and Civil Police. In the Northwest Region, the homicide rate fell by 20% in the first quarter of this year.
Hospital
One of the biggest projects of the current government being built in the region is the Emergency Hospital 2, or Hugo da Região Noroeste. Perillo's goal is to inaugurate the health unit fully operational in the first half of 2014.
With a planned construction area of 27,700 square meters and a cost of R$ 57,5 million, secured by the State Treasury, Hugo 2 will be dedicated to providing urgent, emergency, and burn medical services. It will have 360 beds, five floors with inpatient wards, 40 ICU beds, a helipad, parking for 1,000 vehicles, an auditorium with 150 seats, and 10 observation beds, among other facilities.
