Goiás247_ Announced as "the governor of one of the fastest-growing states in Brazil," Governor Marconi Perillo gave a lecture in Belo Horizonte highlighting the principles and concepts that underpin Goiás's impressive growth, at the Business Connection event. Promoted by the VB Comunicação group, the event brings together political and business leaders for a discussion about Brazil.
With the theme "Public Management and the Productive Sector: Benefits for Society," Marconi emphasized the importance of the partnership between public managers and the business community. "Every time I talk about growth in Goiás with figures on GDP, exports, per capita income, and other indicators, I recognize that the great lever for everything planned in terms of economic growth is the productive sector," he said. The governor highlighted the objective of his participation, "I hope to contribute to the purpose of this meeting, with reflections on the benefits for society of good interaction between Public Management and the Productive Sector."
The Business Connection event brought together 120 major business leaders, federal and state representatives, and other prominent figures, and included the participation of the governor of Minas Gerais, Antonio Anastasia. In his opening remarks, Marconi quoted former president Tancredo Neves. "Tancredo used to say, when he went to Goiás, that he didn't know if he felt more like a Mineiro (from Minas Gerais) in Goiás or more like a Goiano (from Goiás state) in Minas Gerais. I feel that way," he commented.
Next, Marconi commented on the importance of politics in the life of a citizen. "If I could summarize in words what I have done best in my life, I would certainly include the experience of governing a state like Goiás as something I consider a great achievement," he emphasized.
In another excerpt, he recalled: "When I first ran for governor, still immature about the challenges I would face, I had a dream of transforming people's lives for the better, giving them dignity to live, opportunities to produce, and incentives to grow. Fifteen years later, leading the growth of Goiás for the third time, I have much to tell and I bring here some of this experience as a way to share ideas and initiatives that have enhanced the driving force of the productive sector, combining it with the will of a people to become an example for the country," declared Marconi Perillo.
In a morning interview with the local affiliate of TV Bandeirantes, Marconi Perillo spoke about the potential and development of Goiás and emphasized: "What is important in public management is the understanding that nothing is solved in isolation and no result happens by chance. Despite the investments we attracted and the incentives aimed at the food industry, the pharmaceutical sector, the automotive industry, bioenergy, technology and the mineral sector, we had to solve crucial problems for the sustainability of all industrial and commercial projects. We invested massively in education, infrastructure and continuing education. We did our homework," he said.
In another part of the interview, Marconi discussed the Bolsa Futuro Program. "Bolsa Futuro is a solid program because it provides professional training in the various courses offered. Bolsa Futuro is the largest professional training program in the country and will serve 200 people in Goiás. It is accessible to everyone because, in addition to the free courses, financial incentives are also provided to low-income participants. In Goiás, our most important commitment is to the development of people," he said.
