Bahia 247 - The chairman of the Finance, Budget, Oversight and Control Committee of the Legislative Assembly, State Representative Alex Lima (PTN), celebrates the fact that Bahia has received the best rating in the Northeast and the third best in the country from the National Treasury with regard to its ability to pay debts and other commitments.
According to the legislator, "Bahia's comfortable debt profile opens avenues for new credit operations, which are fundamental for the continuity of infrastructure investments maintained by the State in the capital and the interior."
"Bahia is going against the trend of large states that have faced financial problems. The state's net current debt is equivalent to 54% of its net current revenue, while some of the large states are already close to or above the maximum limit of 200% stipulated by the Fiscal Responsibility Law. This allows for new financial operations to continue investments already underway," says Lima.
With a rating of (B) obtained after technical evaluations by the National Treasury, Bahia ranked below only Pará (A-) and Tocantins (B+), gaining national prominence due to its sound fiscal health.
According to Alex Lima, "Bahia's debt profile reflects a mature and conscious management style developed by Governor Rui Costa and the Secretary of Finance, Manoel Vitório."
"As chairman of the Finance Committee, I monitor the state's spending and I know that despite the drop in revenue, Bahia has managed to maintain its commitments and continue its projects. The governor and the Secretary of Finance have demonstrated management skills, and the score received in the Treasury ranking is simply a return on these good actions," said the deputy.
