The PDT is already considering launching its own candidacy to succeed the governor of Bahia, Jaques Wagner (PT). This Thursday (10), in a conversation with the head of the Bahian Executive, representatives of the party defended the candidacy of the state deputy and president of the State Assembly, Marcelo Nilo. If this is not successful, the party aims to seek another position in the major election, with a nomination for the Senate, whose PDT seat is occupied by João Durval, who ends his term next year.

"We will not give up on participating in the main ticket. The PDT has a senator, João Durval, and therefore we must have a spot on the main ticket," said the president of the PDT in Bahia, Alexandre Brust, according to information from the newspaper Tribuna da Bahia. Interestingly, Vice-Governor Otto Alencar (PSD) is considered a pre-candidate for the Senate, which, in theory, will further complicate Jaques Wagner's efforts to please the nine parties leading up to 2014, including the PT.

In turn, federal deputy Félix Mendonça (PDT) preferred to soften the tone of the talks, especially since, according to him, the PT will have priority in defining its course in Bahia in 2014. "We are only at the beginning of the rounds of talks," he stated.
