Paulo Souto accepts being the opposition candidate.

If the condition was that the former governor say 'yes', then the name of the opposition candidate for the Palácio de Ondina is defined; however, the official announcement should only be made after Carnival; Mayor ACM Neto's mission now is to unite the six parties that support him behind Paulo Souto's candidacy; the biggest difficulty will be in talks with former minister Geddel Vieira Lima (PMDB), who has also already confirmed his candidacy.

Bahia 247 – If it depended on Paulo Souto's (DEM) 'yes', the opposition's candidacy to run for governor of Bahia is settled. The former governor has agreed to contest the elections for the Palácio de Ondina for the fifth time.

The mission now for the mayor of Salvador, ACM Neto (DEM), is to unite the six parties that support him around Souto's candidacy. The thorniest task is convincing former minister Geddel Vieira Lima to drop out of the race and run for the Senate.

Despite repeatedly stating that he would concede if Souto agreed to run, Geddel confirmed this week on Twitter that his candidacy for governor of the state "is more solid than ever."
