Paulão asks the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the National Council of Justice (CNJ) to evaluate the judge who arrested a man in Rio.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies' Human Rights and Minorities Commission (CDHM), Representative Paulão (PT-AL), sent an official letter requesting the president of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Carmen Lúcia, to investigate allegations of abuse of authority by Judge Yedda Christina Ching-san Filizzola, of the Judicial Duty Roster of the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice; the magistrate was accused of ordering the arrest of a citizen who was on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse.
Alagoas 247 - The president of the CDHM, Congressman Paulão (PT-AL), sent an official letter requesting the president of the National Council of Justice and the Supreme Federal Court, Carmen Lúcia, to investigate allegations of abuse of authority by Judge Yedda Christina Ching-san Filizzola, of the Judicial Duty Roster of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the allegations, recorded on video, Judge Yedda Christina Ching-san Filizzola allegedly ordered the arrest of a citizen who was on the sidewalk in front of the courthouse building in downtown Rio.
According to the judge, the perimeter of the courthouse is considered a security area. The man, who is black and poor, wanted financial help to buy a ticket to São Paulo, which is why he went to the Public Defender's office seeking support. Unable to get it, he became disoriented, wandered along the sidewalk, and ended up being arrested. The judge also notified the Public Defender's office, prohibiting the publication of the video that recorded his actions.
Representative Paulão initiated proceedings to follow up on the complaint and, as president of the CDHM (Commission on Human Rights and Minorities), requests "that steps be taken to investigate the allegations and, if necessary, punish those responsible. We also request that this Commission be informed of the measures taken," states the congressman from Alagoas in the official letter sent to the president of the CNJ (National Council of Justice).
