Leonardo Lucena_PE247 – Political parties can now inform the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) who their candidates will be for the municipal elections in October, as the Electoral Court has authorized parties to define their candidacies starting today. However, the conventions will take place until the 30th of this month. The parties have until July 5th to inform their candidates for the election, and the official campaign period begins the following day, the 6th.

Despite the start of the candidate registration period, many parties have not yet decided on launching their candidates in the state. In the case of the capital, especially the government base, this scenario of uncertainty regarding the slates for both the mayoral and city council elections occurred because of the PT's (Workers' Party) predicament regarding the official nomination of its pre-candidate, since the party is the main party of the Popular Front in Recife.

Among the allied parties, the PSB, of Governor Eduardo Campos, will hold its convention at the end of June, with new options for the top of the ticket in the Pernambuco capital. The PCdoB and the PV have not yet set a date.

The PDT's convention will be on the 24th. The PSC has scheduled its convention for the 20th in the municipality of Jaboatão dos Guararapes. In Petrolina, the PT has scheduled the presentation of its candidates for June 21st. And in Caruaru, the DEM will hold its convention on the 30th.
