Bahia 247 - The gubernatorial candidate Paulo Souto (DEM), from the 'United for Bahia' coalition, considered the result of the Ipespe poll released this Friday (15) "promising," which points to his victory in the first round, with 47% of voting intentions against 14% for Rui Costa (PT) and 9% for Lídice da Mata (PSB). Souto's wide advantage represents 64% of the valid votes.
"This research is yet another confirmation of the desire for change among the people of Bahia, a feeling our ticket has perceived everywhere we've been. We've visited over 70 cities since the start of the pre-campaign in April," stated the DEM candidate.
He noted that, due to the death of presidential candidate Eduardo Campos (PSB), this will be the first weekend without visits to inland cities. "We have cancelled all visits and street activities."
In an interview with Rádio Sociedade de Feira de Santana this morning, the Democrat reiterated his willingness, if elected, to complete the city's convention center, whose construction "was abandoned by the current Workers' Party government." He also revealed that he has already identified "the need" for a new general hospital for the region given "the dilapidated state" of the Clériston Andrade Hospital.
"I've already agreed with Aécio Neves that, if we are elected, we will carry out this project together, which will improve the quality of healthcare for the people of Feira de Santana and the surrounding region."
Paulo Souto added that he intends to support charitable hospitals and small hospitals in the municipalities. "We will also implement regional polyclinics to facilitate and guarantee better healthcare for all Bahians."
