Governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB) is the candidate for governor of Goiás who is most strongly represented by voters in Goiás as the one who best embodies the desire for change. This is according to a survey by the Serpes Institute, commissioned by the newspaper O Popular. According to the survey, the PSDB candidate is cited by 18,9% of voters as the gubernatorial candidate who best embodies the population's desire for a new kind of politics.

Next, but far behind, is the former mayor of Goiânia, Iris Rezende (PMDB), with 13,1% of mentions. Voters then point to former mayors Vanderlan Cardoso (PSB) and Antônio Gomide (PT) as options representing the new politics, with 8,6% and 5,6% of mentions, respectively.

The survey was conducted between June 29 and July 4 and interviewed 801 voters in all regions of the state. The margin of error is 3,46 percentage points, plus or minus. The research was registered with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-GO) and also measured approval of the state and federal governments and the voting intentions of Goiás residents for governor, senator, and president of the Republic.

According to a survey by Serpes, 38,2% of voters believe that none of the candidates represent a new kind of politics. Another 13,7% said they didn't know. The candidates from PSOL, Wesley Garcia, and PCB, Marta Jane, appear with 1,1% and 0,7% of mentions, respectively.

For 40,9% of respondents, this new way of doing politics stems from the candidate's "willingness to address and respond to popular consultations and demands," that is, their ability to meet those demands. Next comes the candidate's ability to present new ideas, with 23,2% of mentions. The item "new candidate in politics" was mentioned by 16,1% of respondents, and the response "young politician but with a mandate" by 4,7% of respondents.

The governor's leadership, in this desire for renewal, coincides with the results of the poll in the Goiás gubernatorial race, in which the PSDB candidate appears 10,8 percentage points ahead of Iris. According to the survey, released on Sunday, Marconi has 37,1% of the voting intentions and the PMDB candidate, 26,3%.

Another finding revealed by the research is that the majority of the population of Goiás would not go to the polls if voting were not mandatory. According to the results, 56,4% of voters stated that they "certainly would not vote" if mandatory voting were not established in the Constitution.

CLEAN RECORD

Among the factors that most influence the vote of voters in Goiás, having a clean record leads the mentions, with 22%. This is followed by the candidate's "political life" (15,5%), "proposals in general" (13,5%), and "the situation of the current government" (13,2%).

Conversations with relatives and friends are an influential factor in voting for 5,5% of candidates, followed by television election broadcasts at 5,4%, and not having been mentioned in scandals, an item cited by 3,9% of those interviewed by Serpes. The research results influence voting for 3,4% of voters, while the need for a change in power is a factor for only 2,1% of those interviewed.
