According to Freire, Campos will be elected if he makes it to the second round.

According to the national president of the PPS, Congressman Roberto Freire (SP), the post-communist party should join the campaign of the governor of Pernambuco and presidential candidate, Eduardo Campos (PSB), in 2014; "He brings the perspective that if we go with him to the second round facing the government, his chance of victory is greater," said Freire.

PE247 - Unable to attract a presidential candidate to contest the 2014 elections, the PPS has already begun to strategize its support for a major political platform in next year's election. According to federal deputy and national president of the party, Roberto Freire (SP), the platform of the governor of Pernambuco and presidential candidate for the PSB, Eduardo Campos, should be the chosen path for the post-communist party's support. "Eduardo manages to attract important sectors of public opinion. He brings the perspective that if we go with him to the second round facing the government, his chance of victory is greater," he said.

After inviting former São Paulo governor José Serra (PSDB) to run for president for the PPS – without success – and trying to attract former minister Marina Silva (PSB), with the failure of the creation of Rede Sustentabilidade, Freire admitted that Campos has a greater chance of being supported by post-communists than the PSDB presidential candidate, Senator Aécio Neves (MG). "Eduardo is one of the alternatives, and is highly regarded by the party as a whole," the deputy said, this Thursday (10), to Rádio JCNews.

According to the congressman, Marina's withdrawal from the presidential race was bad for democracy because it reduced the options for opposition to President Dilma Rousseff (PT). "At the time of Marina's affiliation, the PPS made a criticism in accordance with its strategy. Brazil had already lost a presidential candidate – Serra – and was also losing Marina," Freire stated.

On the other hand, the congressman understands that the former minister's attitude consolidated Eduardo Campos' candidacy for the Presidency in 2014, which the PPS should support. "We, in the opposition, began to doubt a second round, due to the low number of opposition candidates. But, at the same time, Marina's affiliation with Eduardo consolidated his candidacy, and that, indeed, is good and opportune," he stated.
