Initially, the congressmen were supposed to decide by this Friday whether or not to authorize the opening of proceedings against Pimentel.

On the agenda of the STF this Thursday (1) is a direct action of unconstitutionality filed by DEM that could take away from the Assembly the power to decide whether or not Pimentel can be prosecuted by the STJ. The action asks that the article of the Minas Gerais Constitution be validated which provides for the acceptance of the complaint and the immediate removal of the head of the state Executive in cases of common crimes.

Pimentel was the target of Operation Acronym, which investigates whether he granted advantages to construction companies in exchange for bribes when he was Minister of Development. He denied the accusations.
