PE247 - Former minister Ciro Gomes (PSB-CE) once again criticized the government of President Dilma Rousseff (PT). According to the PSB member, the measures taken by Dilma to stem the current economic and political crisis are "incompetent," since she is surrounded by a "team of incompetents."
"She is competent and loves the country, but she is surrounded by an unbelievably incapable team, even incapable of understanding what is happening in the country," said Ciro during the opening of the 10th Meeting of Petroleum Derivatives Resellers and Convenience Stores of Northern Brazil, in Manaus (AM). Despite the setback, he stressed that Dilma is a good president, and that she "deserves to be where she is."
According to Ciro, Dilma should arrange for the replacement of ministers and aides as soon as possible in order to improve relations with Congress and society. "Having Ideli Salvatti (Institutional Relations), Michel Temer (Vice-President), Renan Calheiros (President of the Senate), Henrique Alves (President of the Chamber of Deputies), and Eduardo Cunha (PMDB leader in Congress) in charge is asking for trouble," said the former minister.
Ciro made the statements to the Em Tempo portal, which is in favor of the presidential candidacy of the governor of Pernambuco and president of the PSB, Eduardo Campos, in 2014. Recently, Ciro, who is also part of the party's national leadership, questioned why Campos is running, since the party remains a member of the governing coalition. The defense of the PSB's own candidacy also contradicts the position of the governor of Ceará, Cid Gomes (PSB), who is his brother.
Despite showing alignment with his party's national project, Ciro reportedly said he does not rule out the possibility of offering his name to run for the presidency in 2014, should he believe the PSB desires this option. Ciro Gomes has already run for president twice, and in 2010 his name was withdrawn from the presidential race because the PSB decided to support the election of President Dilma.
Currently, Ciro is working with the João Mangabeira Foundation, linked to the PSB party, on a mission to prepare a document with a series of proposals to unlock the economy, which will be sent to the Dilma government. However, behind-the-scenes information also suggests that the material will serve as the basis for the government plan being put together by the party for the 2014 elections.
