PE247 – One of the main dissenting voices within the PSB against the party's own candidacy project, the governor of Ceará, Cid Gomes, once again expressed his desire to see President Dilma Rousseff (PT) re-elected. During the PT member's visit to Fortaleza, this Thursday (18), the governor stated that, although he will leave office after 2014, "God willing", Dilma will continue to lead the country guaranteeing resources for the State. "We've had many leaders. Few have done what Dilma has done," he argued.

Cid's statements contradict those made by his brother, the former governor of Ceará, Ciro Gomes. A month ago, Ciro said that "Dilma's government is very fragile. She is a good person, a good president, but the government is very bad." "She may even make it to the election, but she won't win the way things are going," he added at the time.

After spending several months expressing his support for President Dilma's reelection, Ciro Gomes has recently changed his discourse, leaving his brother, Cid, as an even more isolated voice within the PSB. Meanwhile, the head of the federal Executive branch, at the inauguration of the metro stations, emphasized the partnership with the Government of Ceará, stating that "above all, it's about political will." According to the newspaper O Povo, the governor cited educational policy as an example, "promoting education at the right age."

While the president praised her partnership with the Ceará state government, the governor of Pernambuco and national president of the PSB party, Eduardo Campos, met with 16 of the 26 federal deputies and three of the four senators from the party. The objective was to discuss the party's strategies for the 2014 elections, as well as further party affiliations and political support for the PSB's project to launch its own presidential candidate in 2014.

“They kept poking and prodding, and he finally tied the goat up,” declared federal deputy Gonzaga Patriota (PSB-PE), referring to the fact that the governor of Pernambuco has not yet admitted that he is indeed a presidential candidate. “Since he won’t say he isn’t, and we know he is, the entire caucus is behind him,” he added.

Patriota, who is also president of the Pernambuco Municipal Association (Amupe), said that attempts to seek new political support, which had been progressing "slowly," will be intensified. "We will seek more parties and coalitions for him," he informed.
